Research area: Biomechanical aspects of breast cancer cells.

The study focuses on the synergistic effect of curcumin-coated magnetic (iron) nanoparticles to induce apoptosis of breast cancer cells (MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231) in the presence and absence of a static magnetic field.  The cell-selective changes in mode of cell death and biomechanical aspects of cells are the key interests of the study. The important parameters analyzed include cell stiffness, traction forces, adhesion strength, cytoskeletal organization, and migration. The ultimate aim is to establish magneto-mechanical therapy as a potential strategy for targeted breast cancer treatment.

Research area: Internalization of magnetic nanoparticles in cervical cancer cell lines.

The researcher aims to explore the distinct properties of multiple magnetic nanoparticles inside cervical cancer cell lines, particularly focusing on their internalization pathways in the cells. The insights from this research can potentially help develop techniques to augment existing diagnostic methods of cervical cancer detection. A comprehensive analysis of the therapeutic potential of these particles with respect to cervical cancer shall also be studied.

Research area: Metal nanoparticles in antiageing.

The research focuses on the design of plant-based metal nanoparticles as senolytic agents. The potential of external mechanical forces to tune these nanoparticles, producing changes in substrate stiffness, consequently affecting cellular senescence, will be explored. Understanding the interplay between nanoparticle-mediated senolytic activity and mechanical stimulation may provide novel insights into ageing biology and lead to the development of innovative anti-ageing therapeutic approaches.

Research area: Targeted and anti-cancer efficacy of  magnetic nanoparticles.

The research focuses on the development of biologically relevant molecules conjugated magnetic nanoparticles for targeted cancer therapy. Novel nanoparticles will be designed to enhance cellular internalization and tumor targeting. The effect of external magnetic fields on diagnostic and therapeutic aspects will be investigated through in vitro and in vivo studies using advanced imaging and molecular biology techniques.
