    Title of Thesis:
Physico-chemical characterization of byssus threads of native and invasive bivalve species along the coastal belt of Kerala.
The study is divided into two parts:  morphological and molecular identification of major byssus thread producing native and invasive bivalves along the coastal belt of Kerala, and morphological, physical, chemical, and mechanical characterization of byssus threads, as well as histology and histochemical profiling of mussel foot. The goal of this research is to investigate the hierarchical molecular structural organization of byssus thread proteins and their applications.

    Title of Thesis:
Parkinson's disease: Drosophila sp. as a model for scrutinising drug efficacy and impact on wing genetic architecture.

The study aims to detect any toxic or side effects of approved drugs of Parkinson's Disease using Drosophila sp. as model animal. The study on wing genetic architecture will also reveal the impact of the selected drugs on essential genes required for movement and locomotion.

    Title of Thesis:
Electrophysiological and differential genomic expression profiling of Indian brown mussel, Perna perna (Linnaeus, 1758) under
 normal and induced byssogenesis
The study focuses on the electrophysiological response as well as differential genomic expression of mussel foot proteins under normal and induced byssogenesis. Knowing the structural organization of the byssus thread and physiological genomic response will shed new light on the byssus thread protein production and applications. Understanding the biologically regulated aspects of the assembly of byssus proteins helps to develop mussel-inspired polymers.
