Biography
Joined as Assistant Curator in the Museum’s Insect Division of the Department of Zoology since 2013. Pursued a teaching degree and a brief career as a school teacher. During my Postgraduation, I pursued an interest in insects. Later joined at the Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE) in a project on Insect Diversity and Conservation. In 2004 I worked in UGC major research project here in the Department of Zoology, completed M.Phil. in Zoology and undertook Doctoral degree. Actively involved in various training programmes in taxonomy of insects. Area of curatorial responsibility covers the preservation and identification of pinned insects of various groups. Research interests focus on the taxonomy and diversity of leafhoppers (Cicadellidae), particularly leafhopper species of the subfamily Idiocerinae. Currently working in Germplasm characterization, observation, and documentation of COI gene of leafhoppers of the agroecosystem, and deposited gene sequences in GenBank databases. Published several research papers in listed journals and presented papers in National seminars.
